LEGO DC Super Hero Girls - Batgirl's Secret Bunker set (41237), Batgirl's Secret Bunker

LEGO DC Super Hero Girls – Batgirl’s Secret Bunker set

Batgirl gets her second set in the second wave of LEGO DC Super Hero Girls sets – with Batgirl’s Secret Bunker.

It’s her version of the Batcave. This LEGO set includes Batgirl and super villain Mad Harriet mini-figures, the Bat-Bot, a green Kryptomite figure – and Batgirl’s ‘flying’ Bat-Wagon with folding wings and tires that retract for flying (not as elegant looking as her Batjet).

The bunker itself folds out to reveal rooms inside, such as a rotating periscope, dangling punching bag, weight bench, and IT lab.

Batgirl’s training area includes a punchbag and weight bench.

Recommended age range is 7-12, but I made this with our 5-year-old daughter with only a little help (she is getting far more independent with her LEGO building). The finished set offers good playability for her, especially character led role play games – as it favours environments over moving parts.

If you were to buy just one Batgirl set, I would definitely recommend the Batjet over this. But as part of a DC Super Hero Girls set, it is a nice addition. It also joins up with the Harley Quinn to The Rescue and Lena Luthor’s Kryptomite Factory sets to form a larger playset (a classic piece of toy marketing to get kids to buy more sets!)

As a LEGO line targeted at (but not limited to) girls, the DC Super Hero Girls series continues to impress. There is nothing stereotypically girly about this – from the colours to the features of the set. It has a gym, a computer science area, and a holding cell fro criminals. This is a world away from LEGO Friends Heartlake City (which to be fair, is catching up).
