The LEGO Batman Movie merchandise round-up

Given it’s a movie about a toy version of an iconic comic book character, it comes as no surprise that there is an absolute flood of merchandise for The LEGO Batman Movie.

My daughter is a big LEGO Batman fan as it is, so we had a field day with all the new goodies that have been released. We also had a bit of a bias towards merchandise with Batgirl. She’s a character that has been badly overlooked in superhero merch, but one of the great things about the LEGO Batman Movie is there is just so much Batgirl stuff to buy now too – as well as other Bat-family female characters.

So to break it down here’s a selection of what we like out there.

The LEGO Batman Movie tie-in sets

As anyone who has seen the movie will attest to, there are loads of brilliantly inventive and cool LEGO creations on display that have been released as sets – with more to come I am sure.

Of out favourites are Joker’s Notorious Lowrider (with Harley Quinn figure), The Scuttler (inc. Barbara Gordon AND Poison Ivy), and The Joker’s Balloon Escape. We also quite like the Catwoman Catcycle chase (Catwoman AND Batgirl).

LEGO clocks and watches

These LEGO timepieces have been a round for a while now, but these new Batgirl ones are great. The watch is our daughter’s first one – it’s plastic and the strap clicks together LEGO style to loosen/tighten the fit.

The clock is a battery powered digital clock, and in a nice touch comes with a vinyl cape – and looks exactly like a giant version of the Batgirl minifigure.

Both are in the Batgirl colours of yellow and purple, and look awesome on wrists/mantlepieces.

LEGO Batman Movie Key Lights

These LEGO keyrings have also become a popular item, and these LEGO Batman Movie Key Lights come in six different figures. We have Harley Quinn, but all look great – and the torch is really bright!

LEGO mystery bags

I’ve tried to avoid the madness of mystery bags, but these minifigures are so cool that we just had to get stuck in. Engaging in swaps (including with Jim of One Dad One Blog and a LEGO VP/Exec producer on the movie), plus my skills in feeling up packs (that sounds wrong) meant we got the ones we really wanted.

Who are your favourites?

The LEGO Batman movie tie-in books

Another way for kids to engage wth the movie are through the various books that have been released. These range from picture books, guides, novels, and sticker books.

The Jokers Big Break lays out the set up of the movie, and was a good bath time read. Batman’s Guide to Being Cool is a fun little book, while the Junior Novel is a classic novelisation of the whole movie. The Essential Guide is just as it says – an essential guide to the movie.

LEGO Dimensions: The LEGO Batman Movie Story Pack

The only LEGO Batman Movie video game available is this LEGO Dimensions Story Pack, though you will also need to have the LEGO Dimensions starter pack to use this. In the box you get minifigures of Batgirl and Robin (no Batman as he is already in the Starter Pack) plus a build of the Batcomputer to sit atop the gateway platform.

The game is the whole movie played out over six different levels, and features faithful recreations of many of the movie’s key scenes – as well as some additional subplots. It also opens up the LEGO Batman Movie world for open play as well as the Battle Arena.

This was a must own for us – if you get only one additional LEGO Dimensions pack, I recommend this one.
